UPM is one of the most useful developments in Unity's evolution, and I believe it should be used to the fullest. I want to share our team's experience of how we use UPM packages to improve the quality and speed of Unity project development.

What the talk is about

Stanislav Osipov explains how his team uses the Unity Package Manager in project development. He compares UPM with the alternatives: old unitypackage files, copying code, git submodules and NuGet, and says why they fall short. He then walks through ways to connect a package: a git link, a local disk path, the Packages folder, and a registry, either public or self-hosted. The main benefits are that package code is protected from accidental edits, work can happen in isolation without a heavy project, planning gets easier, and semantic versioning gives clear communication. He also covers dependencies between packages and automation: conventional commits, automatic releases and documentation. Useful for Unity developers and leads who want to share code across projects.
