Ranko Trifkovic

Ranko Trifkovic is a narrative designer and the owner of Red Viking Academy. He designs dynamic narrative systems with a focus on player agency and emotional resonance, and specializes in narrative structures, character arcs and gameplay-integrated narrative. He describes himself as a narrative director who combines gameplay, player experience and characters into narrative dynamics from which story emerges, while in practice he mostly fixes problems in clients' projects and helps games get healthy again. He uses non-traditional narrative structures instead of the classic three-act model; for example, he has applied the semiotic square in a mobile game.
