This talk explores how to use open-source or low-cost assets to speed up game development. Indie games are always about the idea first, but when bringing that idea to life requires more resources than the team has, ready-made solutions become essential.
We’ll discuss how to correctly select and adapt materials, props, animations, VFX, and code to maintain uniqueness, ensuring your game and its core idea stand out.
Using our team’s experience as a case study, I’ll share insights on team workflow, collaboration, and knowing when to stop iterating in order to move efficiently to the next block of tasks — balancing ambitious goals with limited budget and time.
