What the talk is about
Oleksii Uslavtsev presents a framework for automating acceptance, integration and unit testing in Unity projects. He explains that on mid-size and large projects, running thousands of test cases by hand across many devices costs hundreds of person-hours. Combined with continuous integration and automatic parallel deployment of builds to all devices, test run time drops dramatically. In his example with a small game, automated tests covered 82% of the functionality, and running 14 cases on 15 devices took under a minute instead of hours. He is candid about the limits: the investment pays off only after several months, small projects are often cheaper to test manually, and manual testers remain essential. He also warns that automating chaos just gives automated chaos. Useful for QA engineers and leads deciding whether to adopt automated testing in Unity projects.
