What the talk is about
The LIVE OPS round table discusses what live ops is and who handles it. The participants agree it means running a game without shipping a new build: events, promotions, A/B tests and segmentation, and more broadly also community and support. They cover tools: competitor-analysis services, an event calendar in Google Docs or Confluence, custom dashboards and push notifications. Their advice for newcomers is to play competitors' games and spend your own money in them to experience segmentation first-hand. They expect the live ops manager role, still blurred today, to keep growing, and say game design and analytics are the core foundation. They also look at payback strategies, event variety, the risks of a "red button" promotion, and player reactions to different prices. Useful for producers, analysts and game designers.
