What the talk is about

Michal Minarik uses two case studies to show how game balance and economy changes can raise revenue. In a 3v3 MOBA, hardly anyone used legendary guns and most players picked just a few. The team introduced an "effective damage per second" metric with modifiers and changed only numbers, with no development work. An A/B test showed a 25% revenue uplift. In a truck-fleet game, capacity barely grew with level while speed and fuel use scaled. Capacity was made noticeably larger and the whole economy rebalanced. Revenue rose by about a third and day-7 retention by 14%. His advice: find opportunities in data and reviews, set a clear goal, make bold changes, and reduce risk with A/B tests, soft launch and a beta community. Useful for game and economy designers.
