What the talk is about

Oleh Chyp explains how to legally protect an IT product or game and who owns the rights to it. He says a product consists of copyright objects (code, design, logic, video), trademarks and, less often, patents. An idea alone is not protected; it needs an objective form. Trademarks should be registered in the right classes and territories: where the company is, where the team is and where the product is sold. He advises registering both the code and the video of a game, and filing again after significant updates. He then covers contracts transferring property rights: identify the object clearly, list the rights, include developer warranties, term and territory. He also touches on electronic signatures, NDAs and common reasons apps get rejected by the App Store and Google Play, especially privacy policy issues. Useful for developers, producers and studio founders.
