What the talk is about

Anton Kolodov shows how to build a pseudo-3D scene in Spine from a single static image, without cutting it into layers or using parallax. He explains why 2.5D can be more practical than full 3D: engine limits, game size, load speed, style and cost. The core idea is to use a tool in a way it wasn't designed for: path constraints define perspective lines with vanishing points, the image is turned into a mesh, bound to bones and weighted. Moving a "camera" bone then gives a convincing perspective shift, while the file stays the size of one PNG. In the Q&A he describes the studio's practice: extra effects are usually added in code or as separate layers, and meshes cause almost no browser problems. Useful for 2D animators, technical artists and anyone working within platform constraints.
