What the talk is about
John Uke talks about how to find the right audience for your game. In his view, the hard part is not making the game but getting the right people to notice it. He advises first defining what is fun about your game and promoting exactly that, otherwise players leave bad reviews. He then shows how Jungian personality types (socionics, Myers-Briggs) shape what attracts players and how to sell to them: artisans like beauty and multiplayer, rationals like data and strategy, idealists like big ideas, guardians like what is proven and popular. He recommends A/B testing names and messages with cheap ads, trying many channels and keeping those that work, studying competitors, being sincere, avoiding politics and bad memes, collecting feedback and retaining players. He ends with a brief look at his project, Game Tree. Useful for indie developers and game marketers.
