Ideas Are Worth Nothing

What the talk is about
Oleksii Korohodin argues that ideas alone are worth nothing and looks at what actually gives them value. In his view an idea gains weight only once it is built, and on the way producers and managers filter it, often removing risk together with potential, so an idea needs an author who defends it. He advises keeping all notes and rejected concepts, acting at a peak of motivation, not being derailed by criticism, managing time, taking a pause to judge your own idea soberly, and not over-polishing a concept. He compares two ways to pitch: the "shotgun" (many short pitches) and the "sniper" (one thoroughly prepared idea). He also draws on TED talks: new ideas are combinations of other people's ideas, and telling others your plans can reduce your drive to carry them out. Useful for game designers, producers and anyone pushing their own ideas.
