What the talk is about
Dmytro Prolyhin explains how to automate UI integration in mobile development at Ubisoft Kyiv. UI layout is the task developers like least: art and mockups serve only as a visual reference, margins are measured by hand, and every design change means re-doing the layout. He proposes that artists work in a vector tool (Adobe XD) with objects that carry numeric properties such as position, size, hierarchy and the element's function, and that the SVG export is parsed into Unity automatically. Screens are assembled from prototype components, Unity prefabs are generated for them, and assets come from a library referenced by ID. He also covers data providers, which fill the UI with data and let artists and programmers work in parallel. The approach helped the team lay out about 60 screens of a project quickly. Useful for UI programmers, technical artists and mobile team leads.
