What the talk is about

Andrii Stadnyk explains how a 2D concept artist can use Blender for blockouts, hard-surface design, interiors and environments. He shows that a beginner needs only basic primitives and simple tools, so the intimidating interface is no real barrier. He compares 2D and 3D: in 3D it is easy to change the camera angle, lighting and materials, keep a team consistent and learn technical limits such as polygon budgets, though it demands a stronger computer. He then covers modifiers (mirror, solidify, array, boolean, bevel), useful add-ons, free models and materials, scene optimization (smaller textures, linked instances, simplified geometry) and hardware requirements, above all video memory. Useful for 2D artists and concept artists who want to speed up their work with 3D.
