What the talk is about
Yuri Evseev describes how the visual style of games at Beresnev Games changed over six and a half years, from flat vector illustrations made for clients to 3D and casual projects. He understands visual language broadly: any communication with the player, including interface, animation and style. In the hyper-casual Flippy Knife, the priorities were visual simplicity, a small app size and support for weak devices. A casual coloring game brought large-scale 3D production: locations, characters, pets and an illustrated interface. He stresses that most of the team had no formal art training and learned Blender, sculpting and drawing on the job, and that each specialist should bring ideas from their own expertise. Useful for art leads and artists growing together with a studio.
