What the talk is about
Vladyslav Fomenko, a game designer at Pingau Studio, explains how game design in outsourcing differs from product companies. Projects and genres change often, so expertise grows fast and burnout is rarer; on the other hand, you work with clients who have money but little experience, and you answer for the project as a whole. He walks through key skills: documentation (write it and reread it weeks later), balance in Google Sheets with scripts, modelling in Machinations, moving balance into configs with automated builds and remote delivery. He then covers planning LiveOps events with a Gantt chart, mockups, analytics, game engines and prototyping, especially in Unreal Engine. He closes with decomposing mechanics and balance, including by analysing game traffic. Useful for aspiring game designers.
