Order in Chaos Development
Anton Yefimov
What the talk is about
Anton Yefimov describes how the team behind the free-to-play online shooter Warface, after five years of development and the launch into live service, found itself in chaos: dozens of new people (marketing, publishers, producers) suddenly surrounded the team, each with their own requests. He explains how they coped. First, they ran a process audit together with the team rather than imposing changes from above, to avoid sabotage, and focused on the weakest links. Second, they made content work visible on a kanban board. Third, they fixed communication with short daily meetings and a group-master role that takes on part of the coordination. He also covers answering the question "when?": move toward the goal in iterations, collect historical data and limit work in progress. Useful for project managers and leads of live-service games.
