What the talk is about
Arthur Sheikhaliev explains how animators at a slot-game studio build meta features: complex games layered on top of slots, such as a figurine collection with chests and ranks. He shows how the team dropped separate 3D versions for web and simplified 2D ones for mobile in favor of a single pipeline built on After Effects and Spine, so work isn't done twice and players see the same visuals everywhere. Because of the in-house engine, the animator partly becomes an integrator and product owner, keeping every element in mind, drawing logic diagrams and agreeing on them with the developer. He advises asking the product owner many questions up front, checking that all assets and edge cases are covered, and avoiding hacks in features that get sequels. Useful for animators, technical artists and developers of slot and casual games.
