What the talk is about
A discussion panel of concept artists and 3D artists debates how an artist should work with the client who pays. Participants argue that a concept designer should solve the client's problem rather than just draw, and that bad briefs and endless revisions shouldn't be blamed on a "stupid client": take initiative and structure communication and approval stages. Trying to educate clients at big companies is pointless; rest, hiking and personal projects help with stress. They compare communication styles of Russian-speaking and Western clients and warn against relocating blindly without weighing pay and family. For job hunting they advise a portfolio of only your best work, showing your process, and building industry contacts; no diploma is needed to work abroad. The panel also welcomes the growing share of women artists. Useful for artists at any level who work with clients.
