What the talk is about

Trevor Claxton gives a live art demonstration of character design, creating an assassin who treats every hit as a fashion-show runway. The story world is a science-fiction bio-horror setting where everything is biological and chemical, so jellyfish become the inspiration for sleeves and fabrics: translucent materials, billowing folds, and organic shapes set against man-made ones. He shows his working method: a rough sketch with a big blocky brush, a few quick line passes, and colors found through experimentation, with a few accent spots and some neutrals. He also argues that every sketch deserves full commitment and can be thrown away without fear, that a workflow should keep evolving, and that subtlety in design takes years to learn. He explains how a hand injury has shifted him toward quick idea sketches. Useful for concept artists and beginners.
