What the talk is about
Armen Kirakosyan argues that game conferences talk a lot about art, sound and live ops, yet almost nobody discusses the backend that has to survive audience growth. He cites Black Friday outages and failed launches where services could not scale. His main point is that real cloud use means native services, not virtual machines. Using Azure as the example, he walks through the whole chain: DevOps for planning, builds, tests and store releases; web apps and serverless functions for microservices; Service Bus and Event Hubs for events and telemetry; Cosmos DB, blob storage and a CDN for data; and Power BI for analytics. He also touches on AI, bots and secrets management. The approach does not depend on a language or OS, and Amazon offers equivalents. Useful for developers, leads and live ops managers preparing a game to scale.
