What the talk is about
Yurii Sydorenko explains how to turn an idea into a coherent game. An idea is a short, clear thought that sets the vector for all development; if "what is your game about?" takes several sentences to answer, the idea is not there yet. He advises choosing a setting and genre that deepen the idea, while keeping market trends in mind. He then offers a checklist for every game element: how a mechanic serves the idea, how it expresses it, whether it fits the idea, whether a favorite feature is being forced in, and whether the core feature supports the idea. Examples include Rainbow Six Siege, The Last of Us, Back 4 Blood, God of War, Uncharted and Death Stranding. Useful for game designers and teams starting a project.
