Fantastic UI and Where to Find It - Creating and Implementing UI Without Pain

What the talk is about

Anna Pisarevskaya explains what happens to a UI mockup after the artist finishes it, and how to prepare it so nothing has to be redone. First, correct asset slicing: assets are stretchable, tiled or regular; stretchable panels use the nine-slice rule, and repeating textures are saved separately. Second, size optimization: slicing into parts, duplicating halves of ribbons and recoloring a white asset in the engine cut both file weight and asset count. Third, common mistakes: decorative shapes that cannot stretch, icons of different sizes, too many near-identical styles, and blend modes that break on export. Fourth, adaptive layouts for different screen ratios and handing mockups to developers through a dedicated specification service. Useful for UI artists, interface designers and developers who implement them in the engine.
