What the talk is about
Oleh Dryzhak explains why VR, 3D animation and motion capture need absolute positioning. Inertial suits suffer from drift, need recalibration and manual data cleanup, and an avatar may sink through the floor. Optical systems are accurate but expensive, need studios and suffer from camera occlusion. The speaker's team creates an electromagnetic field with a proprietary protocol and fast signal-processing algorithms: latency up to 5 ms, millimetre accuracy, and one base station covers about 200 sq. m, works through walls and supports an unlimited number of devices. He lists uses: virtual production, VR arenas, industry, education, collaboration tools and live shows. In the Q&A he explains how the suit combines sensors and how noise and interference are filtered. Useful for animators, VR developers and anyone choosing tracking hardware.
