What the talk is about

Jama Jurabaev, a concept artist at Lucasfilm, uses film examples (Jurassic World, the Mandalorian series, Star Wars) to show how concept art works at the start of a project: tasks come with a day-to-week deadline, photorealism is expected, and feedback and revisions never stop. He advises choosing 2D or 3D by the task: 2D is fast early on but a camera change means repainting, while 3D allows free angles. He then covers VR painting, including several artists working together in one space, and Blender's Grease Pencil, which lets you draw 2D strokes as 3D geometry and quickly produce ship detail. His main point: beyond technical skill, handling feedback and working with people raises an artist's value. Useful for concept artists, 3D artists and art leads in film and games.
