What the talk is about

Valerii Minenko, Roman Martyniuk, Ivan Kovalev, Dmytro Chehlakov and Zhanna Horanska discuss how indie teams can publish their games on their own. The panelists share experience from mobile, VR and PC. In their view, a publisher matters most for free-to-play games that rely on paid traffic, while its contribution to premium games is doubtful. The influence of the press has dropped sharply, and platform featuring is valuable but risky to bet on alone: the key is a quality product with clear gameplay. As alternatives they recommend conferences for meeting platform representatives and gathering feedback, community building on social networks, and working with YouTubers. They also touch on localization and Asian markets, where a local partner is advised. Useful for indie developers preparing a self-published release.
