What the talk is about

Evgeny Petrov explains how to build highpoly weapon models for first-person shooters in ZBrush. He compares subdivision modeling with CAD programs that use boolean operations and shows that ZBrush combines their strengths: dynamic booleans keep simple shapes editable, while subdivision gives smooth forms. Work happens in two scenes: a dynamic one for assembling and revising, and a second with applied operations and polished edges. The dense mesh is reduced by decimation, and cutting shapes are planned for low-poly in advance. Tips: start from the cartridge and magazine to get the weapon's thickness right, and avoid sharp bevels. The method saves time on highpoly and leaves more for texturing. Useful for 3D artists making weapons.
