Using WildCraft: Ocean World, the last pre-war project of the audio agency VP Production, as an example, we'll explore how to create game music that strengthens the bond between the audience and the game.
What the talk is about
Ruslana Kruchek uses the Ocean World mode of the mobile game WildCraft to show how an audio agency builds a soundtrack with a marketing-driven approach. The team first analyzes competitors, best practices in the underwater-game niche, and the audience. Most competitors neglected audio; consistent concepts and metaphorical sound worked best. Players listen to such music outside the game to focus or relax, and for a young audience emotional intensity should stay moderate. The team then shaped an audio concept: electronic ambient with live melodies that respects the game's sonic legacy while avoiding clichés. Audio moodboards with negative references aligned the developers, and sound design avoided hyperrealism. The result was organic streaming listens and warm feedback. Useful for composers, sound designers, and developers.
